Hey everyone! We are excited to announce another Tech Talk. This upcoming Tech Talk will be about Edge AI and our guest speaker, Santiago Villarreal. In this talk, Santiago will showcase Edge AI and how this technology will benefit us in the future. Refreshments will be provided after the talk.

What is Edge AI?

According to IBM, Edge AI refers to the combination of artificial intelligence and machine learning directly on edge devices such as smartphones. Edge computing allows data to be stored close to the device location, and AI algorithms enable processing right on the devices’ network, with or without an internet connection. This capability facilitates data processing provides real-time feedback. Self-driving cars, wearable devices, security cameras and smart home appliances are among the technologies that use edge AI.

Who is Santiago Villarreal?

Santiago Villarreal is a graduate student at the University of Manitoba, pursuing a Master of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Additionally, he serves as an Innovation Hub Associate at the university, where he engages with students, faculty, and staff to promote a culture of entrepreneurship and creativity.
